we took turns laying on our stomachs on that bed of moss

colors lost and found

the blanket she left in portugal

they throw rocks in the lake when they tell it goodbye

whispers by the river

the place that she wrote about on that lined yellow paper

for the potters and for bradbury

they build palaces out of brick to protect the pots

and the light behind me casts shadow on the paper in front of me, my neck grows like those belonging to the golden martians in bradbury's stories, and i felt exquisite thinking of those african princesses and their many necklaces

galloping along the edges of deer isle

stuart galloped right past me and

spider webs on the tops of small pines,

blow in the wind like the sails of ghost ships
